During the summer of 2019 pneumonia was going through the baby prisons run by the Customs and Boarder Patrol. As it passed from child to child it got more virulent, but as the government stopped reporting deaths in custody, its deadly nature was hushed up. By the time Vice President Pence visited the concentration camp it had mutated into a form of pneumonia that was as deadly as it was contagious.

In a week the Pence was dead from pneumonia, and everyone who traveled with him was sick, and within a month everyone who traveled with him was dead.

Before they died the Pence party managed to spread the deadly strain of pneumonia to every person they came into contact with. A few of Pence's team went to a book party for a famous conservative commentator. Within a week everyone at the party was dead, but not before they spread the disease to their think tank, law firm, and trade association.

Several staffers from AHIP and PhRMA were there. By the end of the month they had to close their DC office as everyone was dead.

An ambitious conspiracy theory channel on YouTube put it out that it was a bio terror attack by a Mexican drug cartel. For weeks Washington debated this obviously false story. Meanwhile ICE and Border Patrol personnel began to die, but this was also ascribed to a mysterious attack by a Mexican drug cartel.

A group from Department of Homeland Security went down to investigate. (The Center for Disease Control asked to investigate, but Trump rejected it as the CDC has no security mandate.) The group did not bring back any facts, but did bring get pneumonia. They all died, but not before spreading the disease further around the Greater Washington, DC area.

At this point the pressure of events got to Trump and a life time of a high fat high cholesterol diet came to inevitable end and Trump collapsed of a massive apoplectic stroke while tweeting.

Since no new Vice President had been selected, Speaker Pelosi became president. The first thing she did was ask the CDC to investigate the plague.

At first she wanted to just shore up Obama care, but by this point the pressure for single payer health care was irresistible with the opposition literally dead. So congress passed the Medicare for All Act of 2019 (H.R. 1384) and America got single payer healthcare.
